Looking to register a player for the Juniors competition at NBO? See our NBO 2024 Juniors Nomination.
Floorball ACT senior members (15+) are invited to nominate to represent Floorball ACT at the upcoming Northern Beaches Open 2024.
When: Saturday 5 October - Monday 7 October 2024
Where: Hills Basketball Stadium, Castle Hill, Sydney, NSW
Who: Open to all Floorball ACT players
Cost: approx. $490-$530, plus food and transport (see below)
Please read all the information below carefully.
Teams & selection
Floorball ACT is aiming to enter teams in the following competition divisions:
- Elite Men's
- Elite Women's
- Mixed Development
If insufficient nominations are received for Elite Men's and/or Elite Women's, players nominating for those teams may be folded in to a Mixed Development team(s), or merged into a team with other clubs. If insufficient nominations are received to form a Mixed Development team, we will look to merge affected players into a team with other clubs.
If required, player selections will be handled by the Seniors Delegate, who will recruit a selection committee to assist them. Player selections will be made considering:
- Ability & fitness
- Team balance
- Attendance at training sessions (where offered)
- Player performance & attitude in Floorball ACT local competitions (if participating)
- Player performance & attitude as members of previous Canberra Chargers/Chargettes teams (if applicable)
Players who are unsuccessful in being selected for the Elite Men's/Women's teams will be assigned to a Mixed Development team, if another team is not being entered in the Elite Men's/Women's divisions.
The decision on whether or not to enter multiple teams in a division, if those teams will be a prime team and an 'A' team or two evenly-split teams, etc., will be made by Floorball ACT after the close of nominations.
Cost
The approximate cost of attending NBO 2024 with Floorball ACT is as follows (per player):
Team registration fees: $70
Accommodation: $310-$350 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights)
Team uniform*: $110
TOTAL: $490-$530
The following additional costs should also be expected:
- Transport to, from, and within Sydney
- Food
- Accommodation costs for any family, partners etc. attending (see below)
Nomination requires a $50 deposit to be paid; this will be credited against a player's costs for the tournament. This deposit is refundable if a player withdraws before the close of nominations; or, at a later date due to injury, or other factors outside a player's control.
Please contact Floorball ACT if you are suffering financial hardship; we may be able to arrange a payment plan, or work out other ways to defray costs.
*Floorball ACT will be rolling out a new uniform at NBO 2024, including custom shorts and socks for the first time. All players will be required to purchase a new complete uniform for NBO 2024, regardless of whether or not they own a current Canberra Chargers/Chargettes uniform (those uniforms are now obsolete). More information on Floorball ACT's new uniform (and other merch!) can be found here: https://www.floorballact.org.au/about/uniforms-and-merchandise
Accommodation
Floorball ACT will arrange for team accommodation in the Castle Hill area, and will invoice players for their contribution prior to the tournament. Accommodation will be booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Families are welcome to travel with players and stay in the team accommodation, with players bearing the additional costs involved for their family. However, players and their families should be aware that:
- Players will be required to prioritize team meetings, warm-up and cool-down sessions, competition events such as dinners, etc. for the duration of the tournament;
- Free time will likely be at a premium.
Players are required to stay in team accommodation, unless they live in the Sydney area (although such players are welcome in team accommodation regardless).
Transport
Players are responsible for organizing their own transport to and from Sydney; Floorball ACT suggests players organise car-pooling arrangements. Non-Sydney based players are required to arrive at the team accommodation no later then 9pm on Friday 4 October; players should expect not to be able to depart Castle Hill earlier than 4pm on Monday 7 October.
